EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION & REPROCESSING
EMDR Therapy in Los Angeles
Some memories don't stay in the past. Years later, a tone of voice, a smell, or a certain look can bring the same fear, shame, or tension rushing back. EMDR therapy helps your brain finally process these "stuck" memories, so they stop running your life.
WHAT IS IT?
What Is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's a structured, evidence-based approach that helps the brain process memories that have gotten stuck, often from trauma, distressing experiences, or moments that still feel emotionally raw even years later.
THE PROCESS
How EMDR Works
Bilateral stimulation. Guided eye movements, tapping, or sound, combined with dual attention, help move stuck memories toward processing and resolution.
It works with the nervous system. EMDR targets the way trauma is stored in your body, including the emotional and physical charge still attached to what happened, not just the story.
Triggers lose their power. Over time, reactions that once felt overwhelming start to feel more manageable, or lose their charge altogether.
You don't have to retell every detail. Much of the healing happens through your brain's own reprocessing, and I guide you gently through it.
What Is EMDR Therapy Used For?
I use EMDR with clients working through complex trauma and C-PTSD, childhood trauma, emotional neglect, religious trauma, anxiety and panic, and painful beliefs like "I'm not enough" or "I'm not safe." It can also help with memories that feel small but still carry a big emotional weight.
We won't jump straight into your hardest memories. First, we'll get to know your history and build tools that help you feel grounded and safe in your body. When you're ready, we'll begin reprocessing, always at a pace that feels manageable for you.
