So many of the adults and I work with carry a quiet ache of feeling different — like everyone else got a manual they never received, and they've had to work twice as hard just to feel "normal." There are moments when the present suddenly doesn't feel safe: overwhelm, a need to stay on guard, or a kind of shutting down — echoes of something much older, often rooted in childhood.

Along the way, they found ways to survive: minimizing pain, striving to be perfect, staying hyper-attuned to everyone around them, becoming fiercely self-reliant, doubting their own instincts, putting others first, reaching for approval, believing love has to be earned, and making themselves smaller so their own needs wouldn't be a burden. These ways of coping made sense once — they were resourceful, even brave. But carried into adulthood, they can become heavy, keeping people from the relationships, self-trust, and calm they're longing for.

My work is to hold a space where people can arrive just as they are — no performing, no fixing required — and gently begin to loosen the grip of these old patterns. We'll gently explore where these patterns come from and how they've shown up in your relationships, your self-worth, and your ability to feel at ease in your own body. Using modalities like IFS parts work, EMDR, somatic experiencing and mindfulness we'll work at a pace that feels safe, so you can begin to trust yourself again, set boundaries without guilt, and reconnect with who you are underneath the coping and heal old wounds by inhabiting new ways of being, knowing you don't have to keep carrying this alone.

Some childhood challenges or trauma I have experience working with:

Emotional unpredictability or lack of nurture or support from caregivers, being raised by a parent with addiction or mental health struggles, physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, neglect, religious trauma, racism and discrimination, bullying, economic insecurity, abandonment, and loss, divorce and parentification.

The effects of these experiences can include:

  • A persistent sense of unease, hypervigilance, or feeling "on guard"

  • Difficulty trusting your own judgment or instincts

  • People-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries

  • Perfectionism, or feeling you must earn love and acceptance

  • Hyper-independence, or discomfort asking for help

  • Emotional reactivity, or conversely, feeling numb or shut down

  • Disconnection from your body and difficulty identifying what you feel

  • Intellectualizing your feelings rather than experiencing them

  • A diminished sense of self, or feeling like you have to shrink to be accepted

  • Struggles with intimacy, trust, or connection in relationships

  • Chronic shame or guilt, even when you've done nothing wrong

  • Using substances, food, work, or other behaviors to cope or numb out

  • A sense of being stuck, like nothing will really change

  • A chronic sense of not feeling "normal" or like you belong

  • Diagnoses such as C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, or panic disorder

Polyvagal and Somatic Experiencing (body based bottom up approaches)

  • Nervous system awareness for recognizing cues of safety and danger to reshape the nervous system from habitual danger responses to safety.

Existential Therapy

  • Empowering you to take personal responsibility, embrace your free will, and live a more authentic, purposeful life.

Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Tools for mindfulness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance and effective communication for stabilization.

Psychodynamic Therapy
