About Me

Megan Ethridge (she/her) MA, LMFT, LPCC, EMDR

Professional

I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California, specializing in childhood trauma, anxiety, and substance use. I work with adults who grew up without steady emotional support — often because they were the ones taking care of a parent or caregiver — and who now carry that history as people-pleasing, trust issues, perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, or unhealthy coping patterns. Together, we work on building confidence, trust, and real connection — with yourself and with others.

A little more personal…

I grew up in Philadelphia with my mom and two brothers. I loved the arts and went to the Creative and Performing Arts High School (CAPA, for those who know it), where I majored in acting and took dance and sculpting on the side. I still dance and sing often — sometimes to regulate, sometimes just to connect with joy.

I'm an animal lover, especially cats, and I love to travel. I've taken solo trips to places like India, Vietnam, and Spain, along with many more with people I love.

Today, I live in Los Angeles, where you might find me doing pilates, with a book, hanging with friends or watching drag race.

I became a therapist after losing a family member who struggled with mental health and substance use challenges and never got the help she needed. That loss, alongside my own childhood — navigating family addiction, an absent father, religious control, and financial insecurity, among other things — a deep sensitivity to other people's pain, and a lifelong curiosity about how people heal, is what led me here. Being involved in the arts also taught me early on that expressing emotion in a safe space can be lifesaving — and that understanding still shapes how I work with clients today.

I love this work and the privilege of watching people experience the relief and freedom that comes when their symptoms decrease and they're free to reconnect with lightness and joy. It's deeply meaningful to me, and I'd be honored to help you find the same safety and connection I once needed myself.
